PaycheckWithholding & budget planner

Arizona paycheck calculator, 2026

Arizona withholding is unusual: rather than brackets, the employee picks a flat percentage of gross pay on Form A-4 and the employer withholds exactly that. It means Arizona withholding is a choice rather than a calculation, and picking a rate that is too low leaves a bill at filing time. The default assumption here follows the form; if you have chosen a different percentage, that is the single field worth changing.

The Arizona withholding rate, 2026

Arizona works this out from a formula rather than a bracket table, so the amount withheld depends on what your state form says as well as what you earn. These are the steps the calculation actually takes:

  1. Multiply Arizona taxable wages by the employee's elected A-4 percentage; 2.0% is the default election

This is an estimate of payroll withholding, not tax advice, and not a prediction of your final tax bill. Withholding is what your employer sends in during the year; what you actually owe is settled when you file.
