New Jersey paycheck calculator, 2026

New Jersey withholding is driven by a rate-table letter chosen on Form NJ-W4, and picking the wrong letter is the most common cause of a New Jersey paycheck being noticeably off. The letters correspond to different filing situations, not just to filing status, and the default is deliberately conservative. New Jersey also has its own payroll deductions for state disability and family leave that sit outside income tax.

This is an estimate of payroll withholding, not tax advice, and not a prediction of your final tax bill. Withholding is what your employer sends in during the year; what you actually owe is settled when you file.
