Utah paycheck calculator, 2026

Utah applies a single flat rate to federal taxable wages and then reduces the result with a credit that phases out as income rises — so the headline rate is flat but the effective rate is not. There is no state allowance form; the federal W-4 drives the calculation.

The Utah withholding rate, 2026

Utah works this out from a formula rather than a bracket table, so the amount withheld depends on what your state form says as well as what you earn. These are the steps the calculation actually takes:

  1. Multiply annual Utah taxable wages by 4.45%
  2. Reduce the allowance by 1.3% of wages over the filing-status threshold
  3. Subtract the reduction from the base allowance, not below zero
  4. Subtract the net withholding allowance from gross tax, not below zero

This is an estimate of payroll withholding, not tax advice, and not a prediction of your final tax bill. Withholding is what your employer sends in during the year; what you actually owe is settled when you file.
